A homicide investigation is underway at the Jackson Co. Illinois jail. Correctional deputy Captain Michael O’Leary was doing routine cell checks when he discovered the body of a 31 year old, Collin Kotlarz, of Waverly, Tenn. in his cell. Kotlarz was being held for an aggravated DUI offense in Union County on March 7th. The other inmate in the cell was immediately removed and isolated at another location in the jail. O’Leary says the jail was placed on immediate lock down for the safety of other inmates and employees. The Illinois state police were asked to investigate the inmate’s death. The name of the victim and any potential suspects are not being released.
