A Stoddard County man is in custody after attempting to break into a home in Holcomb, injuring a police officer. On Sunday Dunklin County Officials received a 911 call from a home located on Highway 25, east of Holcomb where someone attempted to unlawfully enter a home by kicking in the door. Authorities say the homeowner’s dog barked, jumped causing the person to back away onto a porch. The homeowner threw an object at the person, causing him to run away. Deputies searched the area and located the suspect one mile from the home. The person was identified as 35 year old Robert Daniel Edwards. When arresting him, he was non- compliant. He was asked to show his hands, after deputies spotted a knife drawing their Tasers. While being tasered the man threw the knife at a deputy wounding him in the arm. The second deputy took him into custody and transported him to the Dunklin County Justice Center where he is being detained for a court appearance on numerous felony charges tomorrow/today. The deputy was transported to the Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center by ambulance where he received treatment and released.
