A STUDENT AT SOUTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY IS APOLOGIZING FOR POSTING AN OFFENSE PHOTO ON THE INTERNET. That picture shows SIU student Miranda Fair in what appears to be black face, with a confederate flag behind her. It went viral and was even published the day after last week’s election in the New York Daily News. Fair says she ripped the flag in half because she doesn’t believe in what it stands for and she maintains all the black on her face was a skin care mask. In her apology, she says there was no ill intent behind the picture. The SIU chancellor has sent a notice to students attending class on the Carbondale campus that the university has no room for intolerance. Some students have stood up for Fair – after she posted her apology.
