Cape Girardeau County sheriff’s deputies on Monday released the name of 45-year old Lonnie Eugene Masters of Delta, who was run over Saturday night by his wife after he threatened to kill her and their child. Deputies received a report of a domestic incident about 6 p.m. Saturday at a residence on County Road 256. After they arrived, they learned Masters had abducted his wife and child and was driving around the area. Masters threatened to kill his wife and child and then himself. Reports indicate Masters returned home, and the wife escaped into a different vehicle. Before Masters could shoot her, she ran him down in the car. The woman was being treated at a hospital for injuries sustained during the assault. Cape Girardeau County Cororner John Clifton said an autopsy was performed Monday, but he had not received the report about a cause of death for Masters. Information about the incident will be forwarded to the Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney’s office.
