TODAY’S GENIUS AWARD GOES TO . . . . . . .
James Walsh, who tried to shoplift a 58-inch TV from a Florida Walmart while a shop-with-a-cop event was going on.
The local promotion allowed visitors to the store to get to know Policeman while shopping alongside them.
However, a security guard saw him walk out with it and started chasing him.
That caught the attention of the police officers in the store.
Those cops quickly caught Walsh and arrested him.
He’s been charged with grand theft.
AND THEN THERE’S …..
Two air traffic controllers in Boise, Idaho, who are in trouble after one fell asleep on the job and the other one smelled of pot.
Several pilots had tried unsuccessfully to get a response from the tower and contacted authorities.
Police officers entered the air traffic control tower and found one controller had fallen asleep and a second one had left the tower to grab a snack and smelled of marijuana.
The FAA has declined to provide any details, other than to say an investigation is ongoing.
OR HOW ABOUT …..
Luke Moore, 29, from Goulburn, Australia, who noticed an error with his checking account, but instead of reporting it to the bank, he ended up taking out $1.6 million and spending it on cars, strippers, and cocaine.
Moore realized that he could withdraw an unlimited amount from his checking account, even though it was empty.
He spent the money, which totaled $1.6 million, on several luxury cars, crazy vacations, and even bought a boat.
He also liked to party with strippers and cocaine.
When the bank caught him in 2015, Moore was sentenced to seven years in prison.
But he appealed because he said there was no fraud, he just took money out and his bank let him.
A court agreed, so he was released recently after just five months.
Now he’s broke and lives with his mom, but he’s going back to school and studying criminal law.
OKAY, ONE MORE …..
Amber Koestler, 37, who started a fire in a holding cell with the lighter she smuggled in by hiding it in her rolls of fat.
Koestler was arrested in Fort Walton Beach, Florida after she got into a physical fight with her girlfriend.
Koestler was combative with cops and even powered right through a shot from a taser.
She was finally placed in a holding cell, but a few minutes later, they smelled smoke and they found out she had smuggled a lighter in and set a roll of toilet paper on fire.
Surveillance cameras found she’d hidden the lighter in one of her rolls of body fat and somehow it stayed put in there even while she fought with all of those cops.
Koestler is charged with felony domestic battery, resisting arrest, and arson.
