Attempt to bolster Missouri’s gas tax has cleared the Missouri Senate

The Missouri Senate has passed a bill that would boost the state’s gas tax by 12-and-a-half cents gradually over five years. The plan, sponsored by Senate President Dave Schatz, would also offer a rebate for the amount of the increase.

Senator Denny Hoskins opposes the bill and says there are other ways to pay for repairs to the state’s roads and bridges. It heads to the House for consideration.
